Hot Foil Stamping Price: What HK$388 Covers

What hot foil stamping is

Hot foil stamping is the most common way a certificate holder is personalised: the couple’s names and the wedding date are stamped onto the front cover. The text is not ink printed on the surface. Pressure presses it into the cover material, so it becomes part of the cover rather than a layer sitting on top of it. For a document kept for decades, that difference is where the durability comes from.

Two fields, fixed content

The cover carries two stamping fields, for the couple’s names and the wedding date. Two fields means the content is fixed: names plus a date, with no room to add extra lines. Plan ahead on whether the names sit side by side and which date format you want. If either name is long, saying so early avoids the type being compressed. For personalisation directions beyond the two fields, see personalisation options.

On typefaces, the designer pairs a calligraphic Chinese with a serif English, centred on the cover. Each language gets the face that suits calligraphy or serif, and both lines share a visual centre so neither overpowers the other. For the full bilingual layout, see bilingual certificate guide.

Why foil stamping outlasts printing

Foil stamping presses a metal foil onto the cover with heat and pressure, so the foil becomes part of the surface rather than a layer sitting on top of it. It therefore outlasts surface ink printing in low-friction storage, though metal foil still dislikes prolonged direct sunlight and damp. Storing the holder away from a window does more for it than anything else.

What protects a certificate over the long term is the structure, not the cloth: the rigid cover and thick lining hold the certificate in place so it does not crease or take stress. The surface material is about looks and feel — our beige option is linen weave with a natural, plain texture; blue is frosted pearl. For how the two differ in texture and care, see linen vs frosted pearl materials.

What the HK$388 covers

Each certificate holder is HK$388, and that price already includes printing the couple’s names and the wedding date. In other words, stamping the names and the date is inside the price rather than added on top, and the stamped content is the same in every case: names plus a date.

Lead time

Custom orders take about 7-14 business days depending on order volume, and production starts once the design proof is confirmed. If the wedding or registration date is already set, order with enough margin for the stamping time plus transit.

Confirming the layout

Whether the names sit side by side and which date format you want are settled at the proof stage. The enquire button on this page is where to start: raise your preferred design and layout there, and production begins only after the proof is confirmed. For the full ordering and confirmation steps, see how customisation works. For how the designs compare overall, see the complete guide to certificate holders.
