Tin, Silver and Gold Wedding Anniversary Gifts

A milestone anniversary is not like an anniversary. Tin, silver and gold come round once each, and once they have passed they do not come back. They are the three most widely recognised milestone names in Hong Kong, which makes them the first three anyone reaches for when a gift has to land on a particular day. It also means the gift is not opened once and put away — it is something that stays in use for a decade or more. What follows is how MyO! sets out what each milestone means, who usually gives, and why a keepsake tied to the couple’s own document suits the occasion.
The tenth: tin
The tenth is often the first milestone a couple registers as real: children still small, work and household just settled, and the first time either of them looks back properly at what the two of them built. The gift here is usually exchanged between partners, or put together by family on both sides and a few close friends. Because it lands on a named milestone rather than a vague occasion, the thing itself can stay specific for years — a name, a date, one object that still means what it meant the day it was given.
The twenty-fifth: silver
The twenty-fifth is more often given by children or a younger generation to their parents, which makes it closer to a family occasion than something two people exchange. After twenty-five years, opening the marriage certificate again can be disorienting: the names printed on it are the names the couple used when they registered, and they may no longer match who everyone has become. Putting the certificate into a holder stamped with those names and that date fixes the starting point, so the document still reads as their own when it is taken out years later.
The fiftieth: gold
The fiftieth is usually given by grandchildren, or arranged by the whole family. The day itself does not need to be the most elaborate one, but it does call for something that can be handed over properly, kept on display, and left out where it will still look right after a few decades.
Why a keepsake tied to their own document
All three milestones share one property: a couple has one marriage certificate, and each milestone happens once. When both names and the wedding date are stamped on the cover, the gift stops being a container and becomes the sleeve for that particular certificate. There is nothing to renew each year and nothing to compare between one milestone and the next.
A Hong Kong marriage certificate is generally taken to A4 (210 x 297 mm), and the interior is built to that size, with slightly more room than standard A4 so a certificate with a presentation folder fits as well. The measured certificate is around 209mm x 298mm — close to A4, but not identical — and the full comparison is in certificate holder sizing. For a document meant to stay in use for decades, matching dimensions mean no folded corner and no separate sleeve.
Five things to confirm before ordering
Size: the interior has to take your certificate flat. If it already has a thicker presentation folder, measure the actual document before ordering. Stamp fields: the cover has two heat-stamp fields, and the content is fixed — names plus a date, with no room for extra lines. If either name is long, saying so beforehand avoids the type being squeezed. Typeface: the designer pairs a calligraphic typeface for Chinese with a serif for English, centred on the same optical centre so the two lines do not crowd each other. If the couple prefers a particular face, raise it before ordering. Design and colour: there are 2 colours (#F6DBA6 beige, #0A477E blue) and 6 designs, giving 12 combinations at the same price. The choice is about look and feel, never about storage. Lead time: custom orders take about 7-14 business days depending on order volume, and production starts once the design proof is confirmed.
Ordering early
A milestone date is usually fixed well in advance and there is no rush to commission anything, so the common failure here is not choosing badly but ordering late. To have it arrive on the day itself, count 7-14 business days forward from the day you order and add transit on top; working back from a date you have circled is far more reliable than trying to hurry once it has arrived. Before ordering, use the enquiry button at the bottom of the page to confirm that the names and date will lay out well on the design you have in mind.

Each holder is HK$388 including the names and date printing, and all 12 combinations are the same price.
